    All the other PPC search engines provide valuable traffic as well, and they've been playing catch-up for the past few years but google has built up the momentum so that whenever Yahoo or MSN or miva get close...google's already two spaces ahead.  That's why we focus on google and then transport our winning campaigns over to the others for a nice income boost.

But There Are Caveats …

.....In almost any opportunity where you can quickly make a lot of money the risk is usually high. Take the stock market for example. If you could just choose the right stocks every time then you'll get rich very quickly. Many people have tried to beat the odds and lost a lot of money in the process.

.....Others have made a lot of money.

.....It's the same for using Google Adwords. If you don't know what you're doing you can end up losing a lot of money, become frustrated and abandon the ship thinking that's it's sinking when it's just about to unload its cargo of pure gold.

Here are the "jagged rocks" that you must safely navigate to stay afloat:

There is a steep learning curve. Setting up an Adwords campaign is a little trickier than for most PPC Search Engines. Although Google gives you a lot of flexibility and options in setting up your ads, this can get a little confusing for the new user. Google does provide contextual help but you know that most company manuals are not written for "the rest of us".

Even if you have a million dollar advertising budget this isn't enough to keep your ads listed in Adwords. You cannot pay your way to the highest position for long so must know how to write ads that will get a high click through rate (CTR) and therefore higher listings.

You can end up paying too much per click. There is no way of determining how much your competitors are paying per click so if you bid too high you can end up paying more per click than necessary. (And Google will not complain.) This is a total waste of money.

Your ad must meet Google's editorial guidelines or this will just disappear from the results. Of course Google will tell you why but think about the business you would have lost while the ad was down.

You can lose money with your advertising campaign because of a low return on investment (ROI). Even if you are getting a great CTR and low bids if enough visitors don't make a purchase to cover your cost and make a profit you'll still lose money.

You must know how to choose the best keywords. Your keywords can be plain wrong, too broad, too narrow, too little, too many or non-converting. There are many options when using the same keyword or term that will determine if your ad will show up for that search or not.

.....So there is gold on the other shore but you must know how to navigate the treacherous waters to avoid financial shipwreck. That's why you need an experienced captain to guide you … get my drift?
